A peace rally has been organised to celebrate the cultural diversity of Bedford’s residents.
People from all walks of life are invited to meet at the High Street’s Silver Faces on Monday (July 4) for the Humans of Bedford event.
The rally was co-organised by resident Sarah Abbott in the wake of the EU referendum result. She said: “Rising cases of racism have been reported across social media.
“I felt it was important Bedford had the opportunity to stand up and show that the town values and welcomes people from all over the world, and that we are stronger and happier together.”
The event, which runs from 4pm to 6pm, is supported by the Council of Faiths, Queens Park Community Orchard, BRASS, Friends of Refugees, trade unions and Bedford Borough Council.
