Quizzers from a children’s holiday charity can be seen taking on the Eggheads - the day before its flight takes off.
The team, called Hopelessly Devoted, are all involved with Dreamflight, the charity which takes seriously ill children on the holiday of a lifetime.
Dreamflight fundraising and events manager Jenny Hillam, from Bedford, was joined by four others to form the challengers’ team, fighting to win the prize money of £7,000.
For the individual round, she went head-to-head with Egghead David Rainford with questions on food and drink.
She said: “I wasn’t nervous filming it but the thought of being on television is filling me with dread.
“When the questions came up, I knew the answer but I said something else!”
The Hopelessly Devoted team also included Iain Brown, a British Airways crew member, Richard Breene, a paediatrician from Northampton, Adrian Jenkins, whose niece went on a trip in 2012, and Evan Sidebottom, a quiz champion from Wootton.
Despite having just four employees, Dreamflight raises more than £750,000 a year to take children with a serious illness or disability to the Florida theme parks, without their parents.
They are supported by a team of doctors, nurses and other volunteers, and this year’s trip takes off on Saturday, with 192 children, 16 of whom are from Bedfordshire.
The show, recorded in February, can be seen at 6pm, on BBC2 on Friday, October 17.
