More than 60 pianists aged from 5 to 65 tinkled the ivories at a pupil’s concert organised by a Kempston piano teacher.

Teacher and organiser Tim Grant-Jones said: “The concert gives my students an opportunity to play to an audience, even if it’s just one piece, when they may not have the chance at school or elsewhere. I’d encourage everyone to give it a go.” Venus Williams, 8, who attends Springfield Lower School, Kempston, said: “I was really nervous but excited about performing my piece in front of so many people – I can’t wait to get back practising to perform again next year.”

An audience of nearly 200 watched at Kings House, Bedford on Thursday. Pictured are Sister Benedict from Turvey Abbey, Akshay Kalyan, 6, and Joshua Moss, 5.
