Power cut hits Bedford

Thousands of homes and businesses across Bedford were affected by a major power cut on Wednesday afternoon.

At 4.30pm EDF Energy Networks engineers were called to restore power to several thousand customers in the Bedford area who were affected by the power out on a high voltage network.

EDF is investigating what caused the fault which affected the town centre and surrounding areas.

The majority of customers had their power restored within 40 minutes.
