Bedford will once again be marking Armed Forces Day at the end of June.

The town’s flag raising event will take place at 9am, on Monday, June 23, at Borough Hall, and a parade, organised by the Bedford Royal British Legion, will take place on June 29 with military personnel standing alongside invited dignitaries at the John Howard statue, Market Square and then onwards to Harpur Square.

The Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said: “Occasions such as Armed Forces Day provide an opportunity for us to help raise awareness of the extraordinary contribution to our country of past and present members of the Armed Forces, I am pleased to be able to say that these events are always well supported in Bedford, as we show our gratitude to those who have served, and continue to serve, on our behalf.”

Armed Forces Day itself is on Saturday, June 28.

This year we remember the Great War of 1914 - 18, as well as the 70th Anniversary of D-Day; two significant conflicts that took the lives of millions of service personnel at sea, on the land and in the air.
