Police will be meeting with shoppers and visiting homes as part of a new burglary crackdown.

Community officers will be basing themselves in the Morrisons supermarket car park in Ampthill Road, Bedford, this Saturday from 10am to 3pm.

They will also be knocking on doors in neighbouring streets to give out crime prevention advice.

Number plate securing and property security marking will be on offer as part of the force’s new Operation Fidelity burglary crackdown.

Though burglary is currently down by more than a quarter across the county, the winter season always sees an increase in break-ins as crooks take advantage of the dark evenings.
