Mindless vandals destroyed a pod swing at Russell Park and damaged newly planted trees following an arson attack.

Police are appealing for informatuion following the recent spate of vandalism which also included offensive graffiti.

The attacks are being investigated by Bedford Borough Council and Bedfordshire Police, with a warning for residents to be vigilant.

Councillor Charles Royden, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Transport, said:

“Arson attacks are pointless acts of vandalism which cost thousands of pounds to

repair. Ruining playground equipment so that children cannot play in play areas and

damaging trees is senseless. We urge people with any information or witnesses who

see people acting suspiciously to contact the police immediately so we can stop

these criminals ruining our communities.”

If you have any information regarding the arson attacks call police on 101.

If you see individuals acting suspiciously or a crime under way, dial 999.
