Electrical cables for a proposed power station will now be installed underground to reduce the project’s visual impact.

It means that new overhead lines and transmission towers will no longer be needed for the Millbrook Power Station at Rookery South Pit.

Millbrook Power has shared the changes with councillors ahead of its application for a development consent order due to be submitted to the Planning Inspectorate before the end of March.

The gas pipeline connection will also run underground.

Project manager Nick Johnson said: “Our project is situated on land allocated for development but we have always been mindful of the views of local people, and fully appreciate the local environment and the heritage of the area.”
