A group of pensioners is urging younger people to make a plan for their old age while promoting a code of practice which upholds the rights and dignity of older people.
Members of the Bedford Mature Citizen’s Action Group (MCAG) will be in Bedford town centre this Saturday to mark the National Pensioners Convention Dignity Action Day.
They will be offering people information on making financial plans for old age and distributing The Dignity Code drawn up by the National Pensioners Convention.
They will also be collecting signatures to petition Bedford Borough Council to adopt the code.
Spokesman Ian Pettit said: “Continuous attempts have been made to make us aware that in Britain we have an ever increasing ageing population.
“The pensioners of the future need to think about how they will pay for any care they might need.”
MCAG members will be outside Marks and Spencers, from 10.30am to 2pm. For more information go to www.npcuk.org
