Spring is just around the corner and soon Britain’s feathered friends will be looking to set up camp in gardens across the country, and children around Bedford can give them a helping hand this half term.
Frosts Garden Centre at Willington is inviting children to come along to ‘A Little Birdie,’ where they can decorate their very own bird box. The fun is taking place between 10am and 4pm from Monday 16 until Sunday 22 February.
Children will be thrilled to see their hard work displayed in the garden at home and even more excited when their first visiting birds move in to hatch their chicks.
February half term coincides with National Nest Box Week and according to the RSPB, over 60 species of birds use nest boxes so parents will know they are doing a good deed in providing much-needed shelter.
James Frost, Managing Director at Frosts Garden Centres, said: “Painting a bird box is a great creative activity for children over half term and it’s something that will keep them interested all through the spring as they watch birds come and go. It’s a lovely way to get kids excited about nature.”
The activity lasts approximately 25 minutes and tickets cost £5.99 per child, including a bird box, a bird themed activity sheet, a drink of squash and a chocolate treat. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Booking is not required; however tickets can be purchased at the customer service desk, online at www.frostsgroup.com or by calling 0800 954 9484.
