A new outlet for the building trade has been unveiled in Bedford and will open its doors seven days a week.
TradePoint, the building supplies business, has opened the doors to its first new format standalone store in Bedford.
Open to the trade professionals only, the new base will sell goods from hundreds of top brands such as Bosch, Celotex, De Walt, Jeldwen, JG, Lafarge, MK, Tarmac and Valspar Trade.
Richard Fuller, MP for Bedford and Kempston was on hand to officially open the new store along with Dave Hodgson, Mayor of Bedford Borough. They were joined by Luke Thorne, branch manager and David Cooke, unit manager.
The new 30,000 sq ft store is at the Interchange Retail Park, next to B&Q, has created jobs in the local area by employing 30 members of staff, 22 of whom are new posts.
Mr Fuller said: “We’re delighted to see TradePoint expand its presence in Bedford with this new store. As well as bringing jobs to the region, TradePoint’s decision to open this store in Bedford recognises the ongoing efforts to bring economic growth to the area and is a welcome new addition to the town.”
A spokesman for the store said: “This is the first TradePoint store of its kind, and boasts several services and features not previously available which are aimed at fulfilling the builders’ needs quickly.
“The Bedford store TradePoint counter has built strong relationships with a thriving community of local businesses and individuals since opening last year and so represented a good opportunity to build on the existing offer.
“TradePoint Bedford boasts a number of new features aimed at giving Bedford’s trade community access to a wider range of products more quickly, at highly competitive trade prices. The new store layout will see 7,300 products categorised in a way that is designed to make it easier to navigate, as well as a drive-thru yard allowing 900 bulk products to be collected and taken away on the day.”
A next day delivery service is available on everything in store, including heavy product, direct to site. Visitors to the store will also be able to choose from 18 complete kitchens and bathrooms in stock, and new Valspar paint mixing with millions of colour options.
Members will also have access to a specialist support team to help manage projects and supply from end to end, as well as a place to do business thanks to the on-site café and the project planning room.
