Getting a place in the greatest marathon in the world can be harder than the training but a Bedfordshire charity has managed to bag itself a single entry - and is looking for the best runner to fill it.

The Road Victims Trust (RVT) has been given a Silver Bond place in next year’s London Marathon.

Fundraising manager Jenny Hillam said: “Every year there are many people disappointed not to be able to run in the London Marathon, so this is a great opportunity to take part.

“We need to find the ‘Crème da la crème’ to run for us and raise as much as they can for us, so we have decided to invite the public to apply for the place and tell us why they feel we should give it to them.”

The potential candidate will need to raise in excess of £2,500 for the charity, which offers a range of free support services to residents of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire who have been affected by fatal road collisions.

Applicants will need to complete a form, and outline why they think they are the best person to run for RVT.

Jenny added: “Every referral we receive is for us a tragedy unfolding, of lives and families changed forever, but also represents a chance for us to offer our service that will make a difference to those affected.

“This is why we are looking for that amazing person who can raise lots of money.”
