Nine-year-old boy designs bedroom

Have your say

Football-fanatic Sam McCarthy has netted himself a £200 toy voucher after winning a competition to design a bedroom at Taylor Wimpey’s Westlow Abbey development ,

Nine-year-old Sam’s winning design features a football-patterned rug, a football lightshade and a poster of his favourite player, Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen.

The Spurs fan also included a TV showing Match of the Day and a World Cup trophy in the picture of his dream bedroom.

He said: “I’m a big football fan so I decided to draw a football carpet, a football light and a stripy bed in my dream bedroom. Art is one of my favourite subjects and I was really pleased to win the competition.

“I am going to spend my prize on some new WWE wrestling figures, because I like wrestling almost as much as I like football!”

Children were invited to enter the dream bedroom competition at the launch of the stunning new ‘Coniston’ showhome launch at Westlow Abbey in January.

Sam has won a £200 voucher for a nationwide toy shop, while his parents will receive £200 in high street vouchers.

There is currently a choice of three, four and five-bedroom homes available to buy at the development.

Westlow Abbey is part of Lakeview, the first of four villages which will make up the village Wixams.
