Bedfordshire’s £40million mental health and learning disabilities contract has been awarded to a new service provider.

From April 1, 2015, East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT) will run adult mental health, specialist learning disability, rehabilitation and recovery, and child and adolescent mental health services after signing a seven-year contract with Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group, Bedford Borough and Central Bedfordshire councils.

BCCG clinical director for mental health Dr Judy Baxter said: “ELFT is a leading provider of mental health services. It was the outstanding bidder for all four service areas.

“The Trust provided assurance of its track record for delivering services of a high standard and its ability to drive change, transform services and achieve excellence.”
