Post Office services are now more accessible thanks to a refurbishment at Wilstead’s village store.
The newly refurbished post office and convenience store was reopened by Bedford’s mayor Dave Hodgson.
He cut the ribbon during the opening ceremony alongside postmaster Sukhdev Thiarra.
Post Office services are now provided at an open counter beside the retail area and are available during the store’s opening hours.
These are Monday to Friday from 6.30am to 7.30pm, Saturday from 6am to 7.30pm and Sunday from 7am to 7pm.
This is an extra 52 hours and 30 minutes each week, including all day Sunday and Wednesday and Saturday afternoons.
The branch in Cotton End Road also opens earlier and closes later every day and the revamp marks the end of lunchtime closures.
Mr Thiarra decided to modernise his post office as part of a mayor government investment programme, it coincided with him splashing out on revamping his convenience store too.
