New legislation that will put a cap on the amount older people have to pay towards their own care was discussed during the annual meeting of Age UK Bedfordshire.

The charity held its meeting in Bedford where questions about the forthcoming Health and Social Care Act 2014 were answered by North East Beds MP Alistair Burt, Labour’s prospective parliamentary candidate for Bedford and Kempston Patrick Hall, Lib Dem candidate for the same area Mahmud Henry Rogers and UKIP’s MP hopeful for Mid Beds Nigel Wickens.

More than 80 people including councillors, charity representatives and older people attended the meeting.
