Murder investigation launched following fatal stabbing of 19-year-old in Bedford

A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a 19-year-old man, named locally as Isaac Stone, in Costin Street, Bedford, on Saturday night.

Detectives from the Bed, Cambs and Herts Major Crime Unit are investigating the incident, which happened at 6.20pm on Saturday, January 25. Officers attended the scene after receiving reports that a man had been stabbed.

The victim, who has not been formally identified, died a short time later.

A 20-year-old-man, who also sustained significant injuries during the incident and is currently being treated in hospital, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

A number of people are believed to have run from the scene and Detective Chief Inspector Jerome Kent fromthe Major Crime Unit is keen to trace anyone who may have information relating to this inquiry.

Detective Chief Inspector Kent said: “We have launched a murder investigation and a team of detectives are now piecing together exactly what happened in the moments leading up to this incident.

“A number of people were seen running from the scene who may have been involved. Our task now is to identify and trace anyone who was present or involved in the assault.

“If you were one of these people but only witnessed events then we need you to come forward and assist us with this investigation. Anything that you tell us will be treated in strict confidence.”
