A mother and son were kicked and punched by a man as they walked along a street in Ampthill.

The pair were walking along Oliver Street at around 5pm on Thursday, May 21, when they were approached by their attacker, who had got out of a van.

The son, aged 26, was punched unconscious by the man and nearby residents, who were alerted by the mother’s screams, came their aid.

Det Con Claire Case said: “The offender assaulted both the man and the woman, kicking and punching them and leaving them with injuries requiring hospital treatment.

“We’re keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the altercation as soon as possible.”

The attacker is white, aged in his 20s, well built and around 6ft tall. It is believed he had been driving a white van and was wearing high-visibility clothing.
