A bride and bridegroom are giving their wedding a vintage spin by using 1940’s military vehicles to get to the ceremony.

On the big day, bride Debbie Panter will travel from Great Barford to St Lawrence Church, Willington, in a half-track vehicle, which has wheels at the front and a continuous track at the back.

The 28-year-old’s bridesmaids will head to the church in a Dodge ambulance, while bridegroom Chris Bousted, 31, will be riding in the Jeep with the best man.

Mother of the bride Val Panter said: “The ambulance and half-track are owned by my sons Kevin and Stephen, and the Jeep by my brother Philip.

“We take them to shows such as Shuttleworth and Twinwoods. We do dress up, we’ve got lots of 1940’s clothes.”

She added: “The boys are still thinking about whether they will be wearing their military suits, or normal wedding suits.”

After the wedding on Saturday, May 17, the bride and bridegroom, who live in Kempston, will be heading off to Thailand for their honeymoon – in a modern passenger jet.
