Man hurt in robbery

Mobile phone and money stolen in attack off Bedford High Street.

A man was left with injuries to his face, back and arms when he was robbed in Bedford High Street.

The 27-year-old had left the Timeout bar early on Saturday evening and was walking across the High Street towards Luddington's Passage, at some time between midnight and 4am.

There he was set upon by two men who pushed him to the ground and punched and kicked him.

They then took his mobile telephone and money.

The victim managed to make his way home before alerting the police the following morning.

Det Con Matthew Glanfield said: "The victim has been left with bruising to the face, back and arms but this could have been much more serious as he was left alone on the floor having passed out.

"I would like to urge anyone who witnessed this incident, or anyone who knows about this incident, to contact me, in confidence."

Anyone with information can contact Det Con Glanfield at Greyfriars Police Station on 01234 275334, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
