A man was left shocked after waking up to find thieves had ‘surgically removed’ parts of his car overnight.

Bobby Riddaway was stunned to find crooks had taken the bonnet, front bumper, light fittings, fog lights and radiator from the front of his Vauxhall Corsa which was parked outside his house, last Wednesday morning.

Mr Riddaway, from Greenfield, said: “The police said it was a professional job done to order as apparently a Corsa front end shunt is the most common accident and thieves are stealing parts to order.

“When I got up in the morning and saw the car my first thought was that my son had used the car and been involved in an accident. I went to check on him and found he was fine but then I saw what had been taken. They surgically removed the bonnet.

“I haven’t really been able to sleep since and I am still a bit shocked as it’s not something you expect to happen.

The response from the police has been good as they came straight away. They said they found professional criminals doing something similar last year and are now investigating what happened to me. What I would recommend to people is to put a spotlight on their car, or put it in their garage and to check their insurance.”
