Man ‘critical’ after falling 20 feet from ladder

A man has been left in a ‘critical’ condition following a fall at a building site.

The incident happened just after noon on Friday (April 4)

At 12:26pm, Magpas Helimedix Doctor Jon Birks and Paramedic Keir Rutherford arrived at the building site near Haynes) - via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance.

A man in his 40s had fallen about 20 feet from a ladder and suffered severe head injuries, they reported.

The Magpas team anaesthetised the patient and provided him with enhanced A&E level care, before accompanying him to Addenbrooke’s Hospital by ambulance (monitoring his condition all the way).

On arrival at the hospital, the man was reported to be in a critical condition.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene was: Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member Adam Bright.

An EEAST Ambulance Crew, an EEAST Rapid Response Paramedic and Bedfordshire Police were also present. All the Emergency Services worked well together.
