Pupils and staff at John Gibbard Lower School in Sharnbrook have been awarded a Quality Mark with Distinction from the Association for Physical Education (AfPE)

The AfPE is the only physical education subject in the UK whose purpose is to promote and maintain high standards and safe practice in physical education at national and local levels. The award was based on achievement, quality of teaching, curriculum provision and the leadership and management of PE.

Head teacher Sheila Kaznowski said “We are delighted to receive this award. It reflects the teachers’ and children’s enthusiasm, dedication and hard work in all areas of sporting activity. Mrs Wildman, our PE coordinator, has made such a positive, high quality impact on the teaching of PE throughout the school. The profile of PE has been raised, with Mrs Wildman organising a range of new opportunities for pupils, training for staff and also extending our resources. This award truly reflects the impact of our outstanding PE provision.

“This award demonstrates the commitment and passion that the school has to provide all of their pupils with every opportunity to develop their physical skills.”
