Youngsters’ gifts for mums

Lucky pupils are all set to treat their mothers this weekend after receiving £5 Love Bedford vouchers.
Love Bedford businesses are encouraging young shoppers into the town this week to find the best buys for Mothers’ Day, which they can afford on their pocket money.
BedfordBID gave ten pupils of Bedford Free School £5 Love Bedford vouchers, which can be redeemed in 250 outlets, and asked them to come up with their top ten recommendations for others managing on a pupil’s purse.
A Mother’s Day card creation promotion was also held with Priory Lower School, with the reward being Love Bedford vouchers to spend in town.
Christina Rowe, director of BedfordBID, which represents 575 levy-paying businesses said: “We need to keep families coming back to Bedford and that includes the younger members.
“Mothers’ Day gifts on a pocket money budget are not something children can access on-line easily - so we thought we would ask some of our future customers to do some research for us.
“And they did a fantastic job coming up with a good selection from independents and chain stores.”
The items bought by pupils for £5 or less included: a basket plant, sweets, bath products, necklace, mug, garden ornament and a wall hanging wooden heart.
The gifts came from Wilkinsons, Arcadia sweet shop, SuperDrug, Debenhams, Marks&Spencer, All Ears on the High Street and BHS.
