Young car crash victim named as man from Wootton

A 22-year-old man who died after his car crash in Wootton in the early hours of Saturday morning, July 26 has been named by police.

Jake Mulvaney, of Payne Road, Wootton, died on Saturday at Bedford Hospital, after the accident in which he suffered a head injury. An inquest is due to open tomorrow (Tuesday, July 29) in Ampthill.

Police are keen to trace witnesses to the fatal road traffic collision that happened on Cranfield Road in Wootton.

The incident happened at approximately 5.13am and involved one vehicle, a black Mini Cooper, which left the road approximately half a mile south of the junction with Church Road.

The 22 year old suffered serious injuries and was taken to Bedford Hospital for treatment but he died later.

A 20-year-old male passenger was also taken to the same hospital for treatment to cuts and bruising – he is now recovering.

Investigating Officer, PC Robert Hauxwell, of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Collision Investigation Unit, is appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to contact him.
