Beaver Scouts at Flitwick Scout Group were in for a surprise when they received a visit from a Yeoman of the Guard.

Bill Tuffs, one of the Queen’s Body Guard of the Yeoman of the Guard popped in to talk to the Beavers about his job.

He spoke about meeting and working for the Queen and that he was also invited to the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The Beavers were fascinated by the stories he told them, especially when he mentioned footballer Ryan Giggs.

Adult volunteer Nicky Taylor said, “We do so many activities in the group ranging from camping to climbing, rafting to ringing the Church Bells, that there is something for everyone.”

Flitwick Scout Group currently has three Beaver Colonies (boys and girls aged 6 to 8), three Cub Packs (boys and girls aged 8 to 10 ½) and two Scout Troops (boys and girls aged 10 ½ to 14).

They are also associated with an Explorer Unit (boys and girls aged 14 to 18) who meet in Ampthill.

The group currently has 160 young people supported by 35 adult volunteers.
