The woman, whose body was found in the ornamental lake at Bedford Park on Wednesday, has been named.

The body of Patricia Bell, 85, of St Edmond Road, Bedford, was found in the lake by a passer-by at around 7.45am.

Beds Police and Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene. The area was cordoned off while the body was recovered from the water.

Police say the cause of death is currently unknown, while they await the results of toxicology tests.

An inquest and been opened and adjourned, and will be held at a later date.
