Two local artists are featured in an exhibition at a town centre gallery.

The work of Gail Yerril and Cecilia Gatehouse is on display at the Art Centre and Gallery in Howard Street, Bedford, thoughout August.

Gail Yerril was born in Bedford and has been painting and drawing since a child.

Working now as a freelance designer/illustrator she has produced art work for big names around the world such as Scholastic, Macmillian and has been commissioned by Harrods and the BBC.

The watercolours on show give a real sense of her love for painting and unique sense of style.

Cecilia Gatehouse was born in Sweden and moved to Bedfordshire in the 1990s.

Working with a variety of mediums and methods including wire, textiles, paint and wood, her work uses colour and layers to explore the coming and going of time. Playfulness and beauty work together with a narrative in her work, which primarily consists of wirework figures at the Art Centre exhibition.

Both artists together make for a great exhibition of local work that is well worth a visit.

The centre, which is open Monday to Saturday, 9am until 5.30pm, is running a selection of workshops alongside this exhibition.
