AN ELDERLY man who was walking from Bedford town centre with a walking stick had his wallet stolen on Thursday evening.

The incident happened in Harpur Square, Bedford at 7.30pm after an elderly man with a walking stick had his wallet taken from him by a woman.

Although the incident was captured on CCTV and police subsequently arrested a 25-year-old woman, officers are keen to trace the elderly man who had left the scene prior to police arriving.

Sergeant James Panter said: “It is important that we trace the man involved in this incident as we would like to return his property to him and also find out exactly what happened on Thursday evening.”
