Vulnerable will stay warm this winter

AN EXTRA £124,500 has been secured to ensure that vulnerable people in Bedford Borough can stay warm throughout the winter.
Bedford Borough Council’s involvement in the Warm Homes, Healthy People project will reduce the level of cold related illness and winter deaths due to cold housing.
Councillor Colleen Atkins, portfolio holder for adult services at the council, said: “This funding couldn’t have come at a better time as yet more snow is predicted this weekend. We would like to encourage people to keep an eye out for any vulnerable people in their community who may need a little extra help in staying warm. Securing this funding will mean many more people will be better equipped and supported to cope with the extreme temperatures.”
The announcement coincides with Friday’s national Fuel Poverty Awareness Day to find out more visit www.nea.org.uk/fuel-poverty-awareness-day-2012
