Ever fancied eating a lamb shank that looks like a volcano? Thought so!
I had too, so decided to check out Asia Lounge in Bedford and find out all about their amazingly presented meals.
In the kitchen I met manager Gulzar Miah (who is known as Gul to his customers).
Gul, together with the restaurant’s team of chefs, showed me how to prepare some of the signature dishes, which all come with added flair.
As well as the lamb shank, which was as delicious as it was spectacular looking, I learned how to make the restaurant’s latest dish - mustard salmon.
Asia Lounge prides itself on being a fusion restaurant, and its chefs love to experiment with flavours, colours and textures.
On the day I also learned how sauce can make all the difference - Gul explained that many Asian restaurants just have a set base sauce which is used and adapted for all of the dishes.
But not so Asia Lounge, and the kitchen is packed with herbs, spices and a whole range of colourful looking ingredients which were enough to make my mouth water.
The most exciting part for me was probably learning how to make my own naan breads. Asia Lounge has a traditional oven to make the breads, which are stuck to the sides in a move which he has surely perfected over many, many years. And a move which I spectacularly failed at!
So if you fancy an evening, or lunch out with a difference then Asia Lounge is most certainly the place for you. You won’t forget it in a hurry!
