Vintage steam and dog show at Wrest Park country fair

A country fair being held at Wrest Park in Silsoe will feature vintage steam engines, historical re-enactment and a dog show.

Bedfordshire Country Fair, on Saturday, June 18 and Sunday, June 19, is expected to attract thousands of visitors to the historic park managed by English Heritage.

All day entertainment includes Jez Avery’s stunt bikes, children’s entertainment with Banana Brain, John Cavana’s working dogs, birds of prey flying displays, have a go terrier racing, a goat show including bottle feeding lambs and kids, historical re-enactment with Swords of Chivalry, ferret racing and children’s petting pens.

There will be full size and scale vintage steam engines as well as rural demonstrators.

Other attractions include arts, crafts and gifts, trade stands and licensed bar.

On Sunday a companion dog show will be held in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The country fair is open 10am until 4pm each day.

Oakleigh Fairs, who are organising this inaugural event, said: “We are delighted to be coming to Wrest - and we hope the show will become the must-do destination for families over the weekend both this year and for many more to come.”

Admission on the gate £7.50, concessions £6, children age 5-16 £3. Family ticket £19 (2 adults and 2 children). Accompanied children under 5 admitted free.
