People are being given a chance to shape the future of their surroundings as work begins on a village plan.
Clapham Parish Council is urging all residents to give their opinions on the issues facing the village.
Council chairman David Hope said: “We want everybody to have their say on a broad spectrum of issues, such as housing, transport requirements and the highways.
“This plan, once approved, will give more local control over any future development than at present.
“The plan will cover the years until 2032.”
Mr Hope said separate meetings will be held to consult businesses and, once all comments have been collected, the plan will go to Bedford Borough Council for approval.
He added: “We will work with the council on the plan, which will then go to a village referendum before being formally adopted.”
Villagers can attend meetings at Clapham Village Hall on Friday, July 4, from 3pm to 6pm, and Saturday, July 5, from 3pm to 5pm.
Mr Hope said: “It’s a very important document being drawn up.
“I cannot stress enough how important this is to everyone in the village.”
