Vikings take over pub garden
b12-425 Wryngwyrm Viking and Saxon society re enact battle at The Five Bells pub in Cople.
A PUB garden turned into a battlefield as a dark age re-enactment group put on a Viking display.
Bedfordshire-based Wryngwyrm, which has now adopted The Five Bells pub in Cople as its home, put on a special display for villagers last Saturday afternoon.
Landlady Julie Dowling said: “It went really well, it was a great day and I think people really enjoyed it.
“The group are absolutely fantastic, there are a lot of big bearded men, but they are all so lovely. They used to meet at The Salutation in Blunham, but that has closed now, so they didn’t really have anywhere they could go.
“They have made the pub their home now, they drink in here and they hold their monthly meetings here.
“We had lovely weather and a great turnout from customers and villagers. We are waiting for feedback from our customers and if it’s good we will definitely be making it a regular thing.”
