University of Bedfordshire Vice Chancellor Bill Rammell has become the one of the latest person to throw a bucket of freezing cold water over his head in the name of charity as he took part in the Ice Bucket Challenge.

Mr Rammell was nominated for the chilly trial – which has gone viral across social media – by the University’s Chaplain, Reverend Andrew Goodman, as well as Charlie Hughes, Vice-President Education of Beds SU.

“It was freezing!” remarked Mr Rammell, who donated cash to the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

“However this is a fantastic cause and something I was more than happy to back. It is wonderful that doing a small challenge like this can help raise awareness of the charity and help those people affected.”

Following the challenge, Mr Rammell went on to nominate the University’s three Deputy Vice Chancellors: Professor Ashraf Jawaid, Donald Harley, and Professor Mary Malcolm.

Bill Rammell is one of the first Vice Chancellor’s in the country to accept the challenge.
