VIDEO: Retro hair and vintage wear

Waiting for Video...

SO, how do you think I look trying out bang on trend vintage fashion and a lovely new retro hairstyle?

On Friday I took a walk down to Rose Tinted Vintage, in Clair Court, to meet a lovely Bedford lady who is making releasing your inner Audrey Hepburn or Ingrid Bergman easier than ever.

Sarah Dunn runs Sarah’s Do Wop Dos out of the vintage emporium and before a night out, wedding or just for fun, local ladies are clamouring to sport the retro styles she creates.

She said: “People come here before a night out and not just a vintage night out.

“I did some hair for some performers at Twinwoods and we did a big charity event in Kempston for the Morning Star charity. We have also done a lot of hair for proms and Christmas parties.”

She added: “I have been doing my own hair this way for about nine or ten years and victory rolls are my default hair look because I like the 1940s stuff.

“I used to do a lot of hair for friends who were going out to 1940s and 1950s events and it kind of snowballed from there, in a good way.”

Sarah opened up her vintage hair parlour when Rose Tinted Vintage opened in September 2011. And the service has proved so popular that she now takes bookings for Fridays as well as Saturdays.

She said: “I knew from doing events that there were enough people in Bedford who were interested and felt that the parlour would be something that would be worthwhile.

“Kat, the owner of Rose Tinted Vintage, kindly set me up here when the shop opened and it has all snowballed from there.”

A trip to Rose Tinted Vintage is truly a unique experience, as well has having an amazing vintage hair-style on your long or short hair, you can browse the rails to find the perfect reasonably-priced vintage outfit to match your new do.

Another brilliant thing that Bedford people are doing right in the heart of the town centre.
