Up, up and away for balloon race
Caring sisters who lost their mum to cancer have organised a balloon race to raise money for charity.
Jo Fitzmaurice and Hayley Parkins who work for home care provider Caremark have organised the Great Balloon Race in aid of Bedford Daycare Hospice.
The launch is takes place in Bedford Park on Saturday September, 15 at 3pm, where the sisters hope to see 1500 balloons set off on a race to see which one travels the furthest.
There is a £100 High Street Voucher up for grabs for the person whose balloon ticket is returned from the furthest point away from the launch.
Jo, who is care manager at Caremark, said: “Having lost our Mum to cancer in 2008, we have become very passionate about what we can to help those in need, along with our team of care and support workers we are determined to do our best to raise much needed funds to benefit the people using the services of this charity.
“It would be so great if we can reach our target of 1500 balloons in the race and even better if we exceed that number.”
The balloons are being sold via an entry form available from Caremark’s website www.caremark.co.uk/bedford or by calling 01234 212344.
