An application to erect a wind farm at a popular view point has been rejected by councillors.

The plan to put six turbines on Brogborough Landfill Site in Marston Vale was refusedas being “unacceptable given its siting and scale”.

The council reasoned the turbines would have a detrimental impact on the landscape, Cranfield and the surrounding area.

Noise and the effect on the historic environment were also factors.

The plan was submitted by Northampton-based FCC Environment Ltd.

A spokeswoman said: “FCC Environment is reviewing the planning officer’s report but has not made a decision on whether to appeal or submit a revised application.”

Central Bedfordshire Council’s planning committee refused permision at its meeting on July 2,
