Bedfordshire Police are appealing for information following the theft of designer dresses from a Bedford clothes shop last week.
The burglary happened at Michael Bailey in Harpur Street in the early hours of Tuesday morning after
offenders smashed a window to gain entry.
Officers investigating believe offenders may now be trying to see them on for a fraction of what they are worth.
Bedfordshire Police is warning anyone who considering a good deal on a designer outfit could find
themselves on the receiving end of a handling charge and is instead asking anyone offered these items for sale to come forward.
Pc Keeley Moth, investigating said: “Handling stolen goods is a criminal offence, and we usually say
that anyone offered something for sale that seems too good to be true, usually is just that.
“If there is no demand for stolen items it makes stealing them in the first place less attractive. If anyone has information about this burglary or the subsequent sale of the clothes please contact Bedfordshire Police.”
Anyone with information relating to this incident can contact Pc Moth in confidence, on 01234 858117, or Bedfordshire Police on 101, or text information to 07786 200011.
Alternatively you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
