These students just can’t stop the beat!
Bedford Girls School Hairspray.
The swing of the Sixties was out in force when students at Bedford Girls Schools performed their version of the musical Hairspray.
Pupils had to enlist the help of boys from Bedford School and Sharnbrook Upper School to play male roles in the production ,and the cast and crew worked hard to recreate 1960s Baltimore.
To give the performance an extra special something, the students asked Sarah Dunn, of Sarah’s Doo-Wop Dos to create special vintage hair and make-up looks for the cast.
And Charlotte Lucas, chair of the Turvey Amateur Theatrical Society was particularly impressed with the performance. She said: “I was incredibly impressed by the whole standard of the production. Not only were there stunning individual acting performances, but the choreography, vocals, set design, music and sheer energy and enthusiasm on stage left me singing and smiling all the way home.”
