Teenager inspires fundraising event after heart attack
A teenager, who suffered a heart attack after playing football, has inspired his
family to raise money to help others in his situation.
Paolo Grasso, 16, of Church Lane, Bedford, had a cardiac arrest at his home in September, which he only survived
His mum Libby is now hoping to raise money for a defibrillator for Bedford Town Football Club, which he plays for, as well as money for Great Ormond Street Hospital, which treated Paolo.
Libby, 54, said: “When Paolo came out of hospital I thought I wanted to get a defibrillator for the football club.
“Then Paolo said he wanted the money to go to Great Ormond Street Hospital as well.
“I want people to know that it could happen to anyone anywhere, And a defibrillator really can save your life.”
The charity event is taking place on Friday, April 26 at the Park Inn Hotel with entertainment from Groove Connection, a magician, two-step dancers, a casino and four-course meal. There is a black tie dress code and people are asked to wear black and purple,
Tickets are £50 per person and the evening starts at 7.30pm.
Tickets are available from Libby on 07837943929 or Tony on 07857534452.
