Taking a shine to Tinker Jack

BedfordToday's favourite discovery of 2009 - and they're playing Harpurs

One of our favourite musical acts is to play one of our favourite local establishments. And, on a whim, we figured that we might tell you all about it and try to convince you to attend.

Tinker Jack are the band in question - one of the best acts to come out of this part of the world in many a year.

For indie kids they have a strong flavour of the classics 90s sound.

For those with more eclectic tastes they have plenty of other influences permeating through their songs too, from folk to classic rock, with a wide range of instruments used in their studio work.

The group veer between a five-piece line-up when they play live, and the gigs they do as a duo. Several of the band are multi-instrumentalists and they have two lead vocalists, both of which we heartily approve of.

Of course, the greatest recommendation we can give to any band is to say that Tinker Jack's recent untitled EP is currently on repeat play on the Go! Towers iPod.

And best of all they are playing an acoustic gigs at Harpurs Cellar Bar - classic indie in a classy setting - as part of a new series of shows promoted by BedfordLIVE!

Other acts lined up for forthcoming shows include Amy Lee, Pearl Handled Revolver and Jess Morgan, so keep watching this space for new on forthcoming shows.

Tinker Jack play Harpurs on Wednesday, May 27.

The show starts at 8.30pm and entry is free.
