Swimathon is back to help those with arthritis
Organisers are hoping that you will want to make a splash for charity this November and take part in the Rotary Swimathon.
Last year the event, which is held on November 24 at Bedford School swimming pool, raised £10,000 for the Bedford Hospitals Charity and this year it is raising money for Arthritis Research UK.
Brian Woodrow, who is spokesman for the Rotary Club of Bedford which has organised the event, said: “The swimathon is an annual event which raises thousands of pounds for a variety of charities.
“It is also an opportunity for charities to raise funds without having to organise the event themselves.”
To take part in the swimathon teams of up to six people swim for 50 minutes in a relay. Every swimmer receives a medal and there are trophies for top local business team, top local youth team and top charitable group.
Fifty per cent of funds raised from sponsorship will go to Arthritis Research UK, but the remaining fifty per cent can be distributed by the teams to their chosen charities.
