Store closure in Dunstable shopping centre
Shop 'failed to make adequate profits'
The recession has forced another shop to close down in Dunstable town centre.
Ethel Austin, the value clothes retailer, which has branches nationwide, has shut its store in The Quadrant shopping centre.
The company blamed poor performances at the unit for the decision.
All of the staff who worked at the shop, which opened in 2003, have now been forced to join the job queue.
Head of property Stuart Doy said: "Despite work to try and improve the Dunstable shop, it failed to make adequate profits. The store is one of the firm's smaller shops and our future is now in bigger spaces."
About 18 months ago, the company was bought out after it ran into financial trouble and was placed in the hands of administrators.
The Dunstable unit is among a handful of shops nationwide which Ethel Austin has decided to close since the buy-out.
