Votes are still coming in thick and fast for this year’s Pride In Bedfordshire awards, and it’s not too late to have your say.

We are looking for the best of the best, those people, groups and projects that make you feel proud to live in your community.

There are ten categories to choose from and the shortlisted nominees will be invited to a glitzy reception in November, hosted by Eastenders star Nitin Ganatra who plays postman Masood.

So far we have had a range of nominations, from a cancer surviving author and historian, to a community fanzine which makes the most of Bedford.

And we want to hear from young achievers who have made a difference, brave people who have been triumphed over adversity, top fundraisers and those friendly neighbours who go above and beyond.

The ten categories are:

Care In The Community (Sponsored by BPHA)

Young Achiever (Sponsored by The Harpur Trust)

Service With A Smile (Sponsored by Bedfordshire Businesswomen)

Friendly Neighbour (Sponsored by London Luton Airport)

Excellence In Education (Sponsored by Keens Shay Keens Limited)

Raising Profile Of The Town (Sponsored by Nisa Local)

Bravery Award (Sponsored by McDonalds Bedfordshire)

Fundraiser Of The Year (Sponsored by Mayfair Financial and Mortgage Consultants Limited)

Unsung Hero/ Heroine (Sponsored by CIS)

The People’s Choice Award (Sponsored by Eagle Ale) - This award will be decided by a public vote following the short listing of entries by the judging panel. The winners of all the awards will be announced on the night.

And nominating you own personal hero couldn’t be easier.
