For supermarket fans Tesco sell legs of English lamb for £6 a kilo, or if you like your meat well priced but from an independent butcher head to DP Clarke in Church Arcade, Bedford to buy it at £11.99 a kilo.

And for a more high-end lamb experience visit Lingers, in St Cuthberts Street for locally produced English lamb, which comes in at £13.99 a kilo.
