Sky's the limit for Stephen

Dunstable barman is to skydive from 13,000 feet

A barman will pause pulling pints to pick up a parachute when he jumps out of an aeroplane to raise cash for an expedition to Borneo.

Stephen Nunes, who works at The Old Sugar Loaf in Dunstable, will jump from 13,000 feet in a tandem skydive on April 7 to help fund the trip in which he will work with youth and education charity Raleigh.

The 21-year-old hopes to raise 800 – and he will have a bit of moral support on hand as his 60-year-old mum is also jumping.

Stephen, of Watling Place, Houghton Regis, said: "Stepping out of that airplane at 13,000 feet will definitely be a challenge, but knowing the money raised will help me carry out such positive work in Borneo will encourage me.

"I am surprised my mum agreed to join me as she's never done anything like this before, but I'm sure she'll love it...hopefully!"

Stephen will head to the South East Asian in July to take part in a 10-week expedition that will include working on vital community and environmental projects.

As well as the skydive, Stephen will also be taking part in a 16-mile hike and a 27-mile hike, running 5km and cutting off his dreadlocks after growing them for two years.

Stephen said: "I'll be doing lots of physical labour and living in very basic conditions in Borneo so the hikes and run are a great chance to get myself in shape for it."
