BMS student claims national prize

A student from Bedford Modern School (BMS) has been demonstrating his ski-lls.

Marek Behnke, who is in Year 13, competed in the British Schoolboys' Skiing Races, held in Meiringen, Switzerland last month.

And Marek has now been chosen by the British skier cross co-ordinator to ski in the Europa Cup this season.

The Europa Cup is the first step to getting into the Great Britain squad for the 2014 Winter Olympics.

It is the level below the World Cup which is shown on television.

David Orton, head of games at BMS, said: "I was delighted by Marek's personal success.

"However, it was also a wonderful experience for all the BMS boys who competed.

"I I was very proud of them as the poor visibility and persistent snow made for very difficult conditions."
