Shopper robbed in underpass
Police appeal for witnesses
Police are appealing for witnesses after a shopper was pushed to the ground and robbed of his money and mobile phone as he walked through a Luton underpass.
The incident happened on Thursday, January 28, as the victim was walking under Chapel Viaduct from Castle Street between 12.30pm and 1pm.
He had been shopping in the town and it is believed a gang of four or five men followed him from The Mall Arndale Luton, past the Crown Court and Staples before catching up with him in the underpass.
The gang pushed the victim, searched his pockets and took a mobile telephone, cash and back cards before demanding he tell them his pin number. They then pushed the victim to the ground before leaving the scene running towards the town centre.
One of the men is described as a black man, around 5ft 5ins tall with a slim build and aged between 19 and 23.
He was wearing a large stone stud earring in each ear, a dark grey hooded top with a zip up front, which had a large multi coloured star pattern on the body and plain sleeves.
He also wore dark grey track bottoms which were pulled down to reveal cartoon patterned underwear and black and grey checked training shoes.
A second robber is described as a black man, around 5ft 11ins tall with a large build and between 20 and 30 years old. He was wearing a black hooded top and dark jeans, a red belt and yellow training shoes. He was carrying a chain wrapped around his fist and also wore his trousers low revealing black underwear.
