b13-143 Silent reading event for years 1 and 2 at Edith Cavell Lower School, Bedford.

Pupils at Edith Cavell Lower School took part in sponsored silent reading event last week.

The aim of the day was to raise enough money to enhance the school’s stock of reading books. And pupils were happy to help, by bringing in their favourite books and a comfy cushion to take part in the event.

Staff were hoping that sponsorship money would total around £500, so that 100 new books could be purchased for the school, but the final total will not be known until March 8.

The challenge of the silent read was to stay silent, and sponsors got to guess how long they thought their chosen child would be able to keep quiet for in order to complete the fun task.
